SELF-LOVE

Google says self love is the "regard for one's well-being and happiness (chiefly considered as a desirable rather than narcissistic characteristic)." From Wikipedia, "self love has been seen as a moral flaw, skin to vanity and selfishness."But what is it though exactly in a version that isn't confusing.

Self love is a journey within itself. It is hard to understand, it's a work in progress. In society, trying to be perfect and being "cool" has become a norm. People acting and dressing to fit in. Women comparing the size of their waists, the look of their thighs, or even a number on a scale. Men wishing they were athletic like that "guy" over there. People have grown up judging themselves and wishing to be someone they aren't. We love ourselves when we do something good but we have the habit of putting ourselves down when we make a mistake or do something wrong.

Real self-love is when we embrace, accept, and BE our true self. We welcome our flaws and weaknesses as a part of who we are. It's a choice we make everyday to be OK with being us. It's being happy with yourself. That no matter anyone's opinions or insults or judgments, you're YOU and that is more than enough.

YOU are BEAUTIFUL and STRONG.
